The best part of the visit today was getting another photo of our little one!!

Today we had our first appointment with our OB Dr Bopp (the same Ob as we had for our pregnancy with Addison). He was wonderful the first time and so there was no reason we should change. Dr Bopp did our first official ultrasound today and we got to see our baby squiggle for the first time. It’s always the most exciting thing!! He confirmed that our EDD is 9 November 2012, the ultrasound actually put at us the 10th, but at this stage we will just go based on the dates.

Our baby is doing well and has a strong heart beat, all good news. Dr Bopp also thought that the bleeding was probably just implantation bleeding and nothing to worry about. I’m looking forward to the end of the first trimester and hopefully starting to feel a little bit better. At the moment I guess I will just keep struggling on, it’s not as bad as what some people experience so I have to be thankful for that.

We have our NT Scan booked in which will probably alter the dates by a day or so again depending on the growth of our little one. That is all booked for the end of the month and I can’t wait.

After having a rough start to our second pregnancy with some spotting and light bleeding, I spent the week going backwards and forwards to the doctors and having blood tests.

This week I had three blood tests done, two days apart to check that my hcg levels were rising like they should be (and they were).

I also had to have an ultrasound to check for an ectopic pregnancy (very, very scary and nerve racking week!!). Thankfully the results of that showed that there was no bleeding or fluid anywhere that it shouldn’t be. It was too early however to see the pregnancy on an ultrasound but still a very positive result as there would have been many repercussions of an ectopic pregnancy. This basically means that the spotting and light bleeding was probably just implantation bleeding or some breakthrough bleeding as it occured around the same time I would have normally got my cycle.

After a very rough week it was time to now relax and go away on our holiday to Cairns. When we get back we will have an appointment with our OB Dr Bopp at Pindara Place and get to see how the pregnancy is progressing. Our EDD at this point is somewhere between 9th and 11th of November. Just one and a bit weeks after Addi’s birthday!! Hopefully squiggle doesn’t decide to come early.

Over the last few months we have been trying for another baby, hoping to fall pregnant so the birth would be in 2012. It seemed to take a while to get my body back to normal after having Addi since I had am still am breastfeeding. But after many attempts we have had some success!

Unfortunately although I took a positive pregnancy test on Wednesday it was only one strong and one faint line. I’m told this is still a positive result but I had been experiencing some spotting and therefore I decided to wait another couple of days and retest. With any bleeding in a pregnancy it is a concern, while sometimes it can be totally normal, others it isn’t. Bleeding can be a sign of many problems during pregnancy but sometimes it is nothing to worry about.

Today we took another pregnancy test and this time it came back with two strong lines, another positive result! Time to book into see the GP and confirm the pregnancy and also check to see if the bleeding is a concern.

Next week I have my NT Scan and get to check that the baby is progressing well and is healthy. A very exciting day for the both of us.

Since the NT Scan is a combined test, I’m off to have blood tests done today to be used in conjunction with next weeks ultrasound. Unfortunately I don’t have a baby belly photo for this week, although I will have plenty of photos to share with you all of our baby when we have the ultrasound done!

And even more of the little details are begining to appear, such as fingernails! The limbs are developing with writsts, fingers and toes. The arms become bent at the elbow and likewise the legs have three distinct parts, thight, calf and foot.

The baby’s heart achieves its final form and beats at 140-150 times per minute, which is about two times faster than mine. The baby can actually respond to touch and is moving more and more, however at this stage I still won’t be able to feel any movements yet.

I was hoping to have a baby belly photo for you at 10 weeks however due to the rush of Easter there just has not been time. From now on we will do our best to take a photo every thursday to go with the week by week growth update.
