After discharge we drove to the hotel (Palazzo Versace) for the remainder of our stay. The idea of this package is that you have a little more privacy but still have help on hand where needed. You can relax and enjoy time as a family, have visitors come and go as you like and simply enjoy those first days in comfort with your new baby. It means you don’t have nurses coming and going doing all the checks that they have to do in the hospital, but you still see them daily just to ensure everything is fine with both you and bub. I’m kicking myself I didn’t do this last time! I was so paranoid after my horrible recovery following the birth of Addison, that I didn’t want to take the chance with Preston. I’m wishing I had. It was the most wonderful time, we were able to come and go as we pleased, relaxing in luxury. I haven’t stopped raving about the bed! Next time we get the chance we will definitely stay there again!

Here are some of the photos of our time there, of Jasper obviously, our visitors with him and of the room itself. We were lucky enough to have an upgraded room as they were very busy with lots of new mums. I think it certainly made up for the fact that we had to change rooms during our hospital stay and constantly chase up meals for Daddy.

It’s Time To Be Discharged

It may only be a short stay in the hospital this time but we are ready for discharge and transfer to Palazzo Versace. I don’t know what to expect but I’m looking forward to it!!! Deep down I’m a little sad to be going, I’ve enjoyed three wonderful births at Pindara Hospital. The midwives and nurses are all amazing. Most of them I remember from the previous two times. So I’m excited, but shedding a tear inside too.

Hearing Screening Test

Things certainly have changed over the years for the hearing screening test. Back when we had Addison we had to take him down a narrow hallway and they had a very temporary set up. When we had Preston they finally had a room for the baby weight checks and hearing tests etc to be done. Now they come to your room! So Jasper’s has been the easiest with us not having to move him to another part of the hospital for the hearing test.

Unfortunately the nurse that performed the test did it all so fast and accidentally took his results off screen before I could get a photo of the screen. Rest assured he did pass the test, I just don’t have any photographic evidence. The nurse felt so bad, as she had pressed the wrong button making me miss the photo op. And deep down I was upset too as I had done the same photo for the other boys and wanted to for Jasper, but I guess the most important thing is his hearing is perfect. I kept the ear cups like I have for the other two boys. Here are the photos I did manage to take.

Morning Daddy Cuddles

Now it’s Daddy’s turn for cuddles. I love seeing our little guy on his big Daddy, even though he’s a big baby, being on Daddy’s chest makes him look so tiny.

Night Time Cuddles

These first few days are ever so precious. They are the time when we get to know our little boy, but also we have one on one time without the other children to worry about. All our focus is on Jasper. This will be the only time this happens. Once we go back home then we have other little people to share our time between. For now we are cherishing every cuddle and our quiet time with baby Jasper.

Jasper’s First Bath

We decided today we would clean Jasper up and try and get some of the gunk out of his beautiful hair. He came up fairly clean but I think it’s going to take a few washes. We got him all dressed and ready to take the photos for his birth announcement (which you would have seen a few posts back) which I designed while in hospital. He wasn’t a fan of the water, which surprised me as both Addi and Prez enjoyed their first baths. I’m sure he’ll get used to it in time.

Jasper Meets Nanny and Poppy

After our first night in hospital Nanny and Poppy had the opportunity to come and visit to meet their newest grandson Jasper. Daddy went home to stay with the boys while they visited us in the hospital.

We also had our first visitors last night from good friends Becky and James. Becky was on call to watch the boys while Nanny and Poppy made their way to our house when labour started, so Becky was ever so excited to come and meet the little man. We didn’t get to have any photos of this, he was asleep when she came so we didn’t disturb him, but she will be coming for another visit.

Nanny and Poppy were around when we were moved to our new room (a regal suite).

Finally In Our Hospital Room

When we arrived at the hospital we were told that unfortunately our first night wouldn’t be spent in our upgraded room as they were all full, but one would be available (this isn’t something you can pre book, you just have to hope that when you go into labour that there will be a regal suite available – due to the nature of your stay at hospital, there usually is, but not always).

Thankfully though the hospital staff are very accommodating of this and we were put into a twin size room (basically a room that would normally have two patients in it, so it is twice the size of a normal room). This also means that Daddy had a bed (one of the features of the regal suite, along with partner meals – these two things are the main reason we upgrade). We learnt the hard way when we had Addison, that when staying in hospital you need to upgrade your room so there is plenty of room and proper bedding for Daddy too. We had the regal suite when Preston was born however we didn’t do the Versace experience (a couple nights stay at the Palazzo Versace Hotel) which we would be this time.

Our first night would be in the twin room, we would then be swapped around midday tomorrow with one night in that room, then two nights stay at Versace with our own personal midwife if we needed assistance.

Preston’s First Car Trip

This time around it wasn’t such an ordeal to get the baby in the car! Last time we were so clueless with the silly car seat and had so much trouble getting Addison in properly. Preston was in the seat in no time and we were ready to head off. But before heading home we had to make a stop at the shopping center and pick up a special present for Addison!!
