A couple of months ago (before even being pregnant) my husband and I decided to do a little bit of research by going to some baby shops and having a look at prices and brands of some of the more major items we would soon be required to buy. After having done my research I decided to have a look on eBay and compare the prices of some second hand items and if it was possible to save money buying furniture this way.

Having used eBay really only to ever buy small things when planning our wedding I thought I would put it to the test to see the potential savings for larger items such as furniture. It was at this point that I started looking for the brand name Boori after seeing the high quality items in stores. I guess I must have expensive taste, as the cot that I feel in love with was one of the top of the range Boori’s: The 3 in 1 Sleigh Cot. This is something that we would never dream of buying new as it retails for approximately $1300.00. This is where eBay comes in!

I decided to search particularly for this cot and preferably something that was within distance for us to pickup ourselves to save on getting a courier to collect for us. We came across a second hand Walnut coloured Boori Sleigh cot on eBay, that yes, we were lucky enough to be the highest successful bidder! Not only did they give us the matching Boori mattress but lots of sheets including flat and fitted as well as a mattress protector all in really good condition!! I think what I love about this particular cot is that not only is it a fantastic quality cot but it can then become a toddlers bed and then a sofa which will be great for reading. It also has this huge storage drawer in the bottom for linen. What a great design! We will have this very sturdy piece of furniture for years to come.

Over the last couple of days I have been watching a Boori Matilda Rocker Bassinet (again in Walnut) on eBay and today the auction ended! Every so often I go onto eBay to have  a search for particular items and a bassinet was something that I had been on the look out for. We have a two story house, so I really wanted something up stairs for the baby as well as the cot down stairs. I know that regular bassinets retail for $150.00 in stores, so this was always an option for us however I wanted something that’s going to be useful for more than a few months. That’s why the Matilda Rocker Cradle with it’s larger size really is a wonderful option for us.

Success, another wonderful buy on eBay! We collected this fantastic piece of furniture tonight which I am over the moon with. Again the seller was kind enough to give us the mattress that goes with the bassinet and plenty of sheets, mattress protectors and blankets, even an unused baby photo album! How very sweet of them!!
