I think today was probably one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had. Today Addison had his 2 month vaccination (which we are late by a few weeks due to the holidays). Thankfully nanny came with us to the doctors to help me in case Addi had a bad reaction.
Before going in to have the needles we had a chat to our new family doctor. He took down all our history and checked on Addi’s progress. He’s doing really well!
Then he was measured: Addison now weighs 6.24 kgs, length is 60 cms (but I have a feeling this is wrong as we have measured him around 65cms) and his head circumference is 41cms.
First they gave him the oral vaccine, and that set off the crying. I was able to calm him down a little but then he had to have the two needles, one in each leg at the same time. He cried, mummy cried…it was terrible! I gave him a feed to try and settle him, but it took a while before he would calm down and stop crying.
We then headed home. Addi was very fussy the rest of the day, but we spoilt him and gave him lots of cuddles. He thankfully didn’t get a fever and has back to himself the next day. I’m not looking forward to his next round in four weeks time – 4 month vaccination.
